I did not do any kind of business with these people and yet they were still able to obtain my credit card number?

Send your credit card company a letter disputing the charge. That should get it removed. You will probably never find out who they are or how they got your credit card number.
talk to your credit card company and get this fixed before you identity gets stolen.
Dispute it. Evidently credit card fraud.
