who believes that if they raise their kids as athiests like me?
that all religions will eventually disappear.most wars will stop and scientific facts will be put on a petastool and get the credit it deserves.and instead of waisting time praying they will be studying how to cure diaeases and making our planet a better place? my kids will see the difference as they get older and will choose athieizm for its total benefits including everything based on thought not religion

- You should not raise your kids to be atheists. Give them information, answer their questions honestly, and let them decide what they believe. I think religion is mostly crap, but I respect it enough to let my children make up their own mind.
- I will agree with mikegree. You shouldn't force your children into any religion. Let them grow up and make their choices. If they ask you about your religion then explain it to them and be honest. Just be honest to your kids.
- I don't think that is the solution. A lot of people DON'T commit crimes and hurt others because their religious faith keeps them from doing so. To eliminate it completely would probably cause more heinous crimes to be committed. Prayer is not a waste of time. It is only a waste to those who don't believe and don't understand the significance. A lot of people have the desire to cure diseases and help the planet BECAUSE of their religious beliefs. The common belief that we should help our fellow man and take care of God's creation. To eliminate religion will not solve the world's issues and you know that.
- Your argument is an interesting one; however, it seems to assume that the various takes on the situation are very black and white. Also, it assumes that those involved with religion or who have strong religous beliefs cannot interact with scientific reasoning, scientific method or logical thought process. Many people who are engaged in medical research are people who have faith in one religion or another. Many of them feel called to work in scientific disciplines out of a sense of personal service ( for very little pay I might add ) because of their religous beliefs. Is it an either/or argument? It is possible that the atheist and the religious believer could arrive at the same conclusion using the same logical argument? I was never good at philosophy so I'm not sure if I am constructing the argument correctly. What do you think?....Finn.
