  1. if you dont have an antivirus program you should get avast antivirus which now also includes antispyware and antirootkit, go download it and register yourself and scan your computer http://avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html if you dont have a solid firewall you computer may be vulnerable to hackers and such you should get comodo firewall, it may seem annoying at first with it;s popups but it will decrease after it knows all your computers programs http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/index.html both of them are free programs and also one of the top rated by pcmagazine for avast you have to register your self every 14 months
  2. Absolutely right about the credit card; there are two programs I'd like to recommend: AVG and SpyBot; both are freeware! Download, install, then scan with AVG first, followed by a SpyBot scan. Make sure you keep the programs updated (also free)! GOOD LUCK!
  3. 1. turn off system restore. 2. re boot in safe mode with internet 3. do a free online scan: http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html 4. re boot if clean turn on system restore. 4. Same problem here..my mother is upset and thinks its my fault. We have Norton 360 and it keeps asking to uninstall and reinstall and saying theres an internal problem. And my mom also said she saw there was a trojan on the pc. Anybody have any idea how to fix this? My mom refuses to take norton 360 off so thats not an option.
  5. www.avast. com (free antivirus) www.avg.com (free antivirus) www.zonealarm.com (free firewall) www.download.com (to check for others) www.spybot.com http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ (this is a service that scans your hard drive and computer files through a web browser and is free, with no download needed to initially clean your system before you install one of the above)
  6. I never use one anti virus program. I only have one installed on my computer, NOD32 which I think is the best. I use free online anti virus scanners as well. Do a search and you can find a few that are really good, here are a few that I use. http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/housecall Pretty good, removes the problems it finds. http://usa.kaspersky.com/products_services/free-virus-scanner.php?aw=feeds-clp-Free-Virus-Scan&CMP=KNL-YPIF07&HBX_PK=feeds+clp+Free+Virus+Scan&HBX_OU=51 Does not remove what it detects but at least lets you know what it found so you can get it removed. http://onecare.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm From Microsoft, does a good all around job but can have problems not wanting to work properly from time to time. http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/ This is from the AV I love, NOD32. Detects and removes any problems it may find. Have had no problems running the free online scanner either. Reason why I use more than one is cause no single anti virus program can catch all virus's. Some are better than others but still any of them can miss a few of them. As I said I have NOD32 for a full time protection but still run the free scanners occassionally to be on the safe side. I have never had any virus's slip by while using NOD32 just to let you know. All the free online scanners have always came back with no virus's found since I installed NOD32. I use to use AVG free anti virus but after getting a few virus's that was when I switched over to NOD32. Worth the money it cost, searching around NOD32 can be bought for as little as $19 through special offers. Also, NOD32 uses very little system resources to run, you can hardly even tell it is running in the background. I use Vista and with AVG I used 33% of my system memory, with NOD32 I use only 24%, 9% difference is a huge amount for an anti virus program.
  7. go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=435BFCE7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en&wt_svl=20508a&mg_id=20508b and download windows defender, then get the google pack, with system doctor, install that, then turn off system restore, then reboot in safe mode, and scan and if it finds anything remove it !!!!!!!!! and fu-ck whoeva gave me a thumbs down
  8. Get AVG or AVAST anti-virus programs, download it , get the latest updates and do a scan, that should get rid of your problem, also install SpyBot all these programs are FREE
  9. Norton. it can be used on three computers. these are the feature's: full backup of WHOLE hard drive registry cleaner live virus and spy-ware update virus and spy ware scanner firewall identity theft protection(for shopping and untrusted websites) pop up blocker add on blocker optimize disk FREE on line support that's like msn (talk live to agent to help with problems say you buy all in one security version 1 you can update to version 2 for free 1 year protection filters downloads for virus and removes them network cleaner temporary cleaner(crap files that can store up to 10GB of crap) that's right 10GB this is what i recommend. things like kasperky arent from trusted websites and i dont think you have support for it be protected from virus and have your computer at peak performance with norton!!
