- My mom had told me that if something happened and it's life threatening, etc. and the person couldn't pay, then the hospital usu. has two funds. The money people with funds pay and the charitable funds for people who can't pay. The hospital can write it off on taxes when they use the charity funds. Ask about that or find a community program that may help with something like that (perhaps a church may help pay)
