  1. I haven't bought all his dvds or books or whatever. I read his book A Total Money Makeover and it alone was a big help. I listen to his radio show everyday and find it very beneficial. I'll probably also watch him when the Fox Business channel launches.
  2. You don't need Dave, just follow his program, which is available for free. (The books are written at a fifth grade level)
  3. Yes I have two of his books and I'm listing to his radio show right now
  4. I have been through his Financial Peace University sessions at my church. Through what I learned there and some other things that have happened, I will be out of debt next month.
  5. I like listening to him. Go to his website: http://www.daveramsey.com/ take a look around. I'd recommend reading his "Total Money Makeover" book (save money and check it out from the local library if you can). You can listen to some of the old radio shows as well. I think he makes sense for a lot of people. I agree with him that for most people, racking up credit card debt is a behavior problem. Modify the behavior and the problem gets taken care of.
  6. I know many men aren't a fan of Oprah, but her debt diet has a very similar philosophy and the information is free (as is some info on the Dave Ramsey website). There are lots of interactive tools to track your spending and to set up a budget. She also has some family success stories to get your motivation going. Like another said, spending is a behavior and the behavior needs to be changed. http://www.oprah.com/money/debtdiet/money_debtdiet_main.jhtml
  7. YES!! I have read 2 of his books and gone through FPU and listen to him on the radio (keeps me motivated). I suggest you read The Total Money Makeover or Financial Peace Revisited. Either one will give you the plan. (I have read both). You can download a lot of the budgeting forms from his website. I suggest you purchase the book (he often has sales on his website and the book is $10-15) so you can look back at it and reference it if you have questions. We have been using his program for almost 2 years and it has helped stop the money fights and has helped us get tens of thousands of dollars out of debt. Good luck! The difference between Oprah (above answer) and Dave is using credit. Dave says you don't need it. (He is right- you don't need a credit card- we haven't had one in 1 1/2 years. We don't miss them.) We spend less by using our debt card and cash. Also Dave is about building your credit score. If you decide not to use any credit and as you become debt free- eventually you won't have a credit score. If you need a mortgage and you don't have a FICO then you ask for manual underwriting (local credit unions and banks still do these). Dave is about gazelle intense- get out of debt as fast as possible so then you can save for emergencies, retirement, college, etc, etc.
