Would Dave Ramsey approve of refinancing my mortgage? I owe about 20% of the value on an investment property. Should I refinance the house to get equity out and pay off everything I owe and be debt free other than my primary residence mortgage and this investment property mortgage? Its pretty tempting to only have two house payments and attack them aggressively. FYI - I have a good history of keeping the house rented for well above what the mortgage payment is. Only Dave Ramsey listeners/smart financial debt free people respond please.
Where do I begin with Dave Ramsey? I see that several responders have whole-heartedly recommended Dave Ramsey's program. I went to his website and am now overwhelmed! I am seriously in debt, constantly juggling just to make it from one paycheck to the next. I work full time 6 days a week, parttime 3 days a week and am exhausted. Where do I begin? With the classes or can I do one of the comprehensive home study programs? I already feel like I don't live at my house, just sleep there. Do I have to attend classes or can I do it on my own?
I need help quick. Anybody listen to the Dave Ramsey radio talk show last night? For one of my classes I had to listen to that for five minutes and write down a problem that someone called about and what advice Dave Ramsey offered that person. Does anyone have that good of a memory? Because I forgot to do the assigment. Help!
Did any of you take Dave Ramsey Finical Peace University? Finical Peace University was great, but we haven't been so great about following Dave Ramsey's advice, but what we have followed has helped. Have you taken the class? Did you love it? Are you out of debt? Do you have an emergancy fund?

How many of you know the secret code for Pizza delivery guys and girls to give you when you ask them "Hey, how are you?" when they arrive at your door? If they answer "Better than I deserve" it could be an indication that they are working a second or third job to help get them completely out of debt. Try and throw in a little extra on the tip $$$. These folks are working hard for their dollar!

Dave Ramsey readers: I have Total Money Makeover, is Financial Peace, Revisited different enough to purchase? I am not in any debt, I am using the books to budget and to learn about cash. I work at a hospital and have a TSA through the Hospital, but my contributions are not matched. I also have a Rollover IRA. There are no ELP's (Endorsed Local Providers in my area). There is one 2 hours away. I need to learn more about mutual funds and if I can have an ELP manage my TSA & Rollover for me or If I can do it myself. I am just very confused on how to move them and then how to manage them or have them managed. I really just want to pick something with a long history of good returns and put it away and forget about it. 1) Is the Financial Peace worth buying, in my situation, if I already have the money makeover? 2) Is the ELP worth driving two hours for? Can a long distance relationship like that work? 3)IF no to number 2, How can I learn what I need to know about TSAs & Rollovers and how to manage the funds on my own by picking long term good performers? What is that middle eastern sounding song/bump that has been playing on the dave ramsey show? ? It was played at the 1hour 22 minute 35 second mark (using windows media player) on November 4th. Has anyone tried to link to dave ramsey? I've tried to use dave ramsey's website for sources in 4 questions. When I try to submit it it gives me an error 999 when I back up and take the link out it lets me answer. If I edit that answer and add dave's link again it gives me the error 999. According to Dave Ramsey, is it better to pay off your house first even if you are going to or plan on moving? Have been doing this Dave Ramsey course and trying to figure out what is the best option. I know he doesn't promote borrowing and when or if we decide to move I just don't want to have to borrow again for another mortgage.... but right now it seems like it really wouldn't make a difference but I want to do it the right way. We owe like 98 grand on the house and it is probably worth around 150 at the most right now. So that leaves about 50 grand and if we move it would be hard to find a house for that w/o having to get another loan. Good suggestions welcome and yes his plan does work!!!

Dave Ramsey and Home Downpayments? For those that are Dave fans, I'm curious about his advice on home downpayments. I understand that he advises that prospective owners pay at least 20% down on the home and go with the 15 year fixed-rate mortgage. My question is, where does he suggest you put the future downpayment money while you are saving it? Obviously, the first thought that most people would have is to simply put it in their savings account until they have the downpayment they need to buy a home. However, that would only earn 3 or 4 percent interest and doesn't sound very Dave-like. Any ideas on where he suggests the money be kept while saving for the downpayment?

Dave Ramsey - how much are you in debt? My husband and I have been doing the Dave Ramsey plan since December. I am just wondering how much everyone else out there is trying to pay off. And what size your shovel is, as Dave would put it. My husband and I are 25 and 27 and hoping to scream "I'm Debt Free" in 24 more months! I'll go first: $229,00 in debt (that is what we started out with not including our house - I know we were REALLY stupid) $145,000 a year shovel.

Dave Ramsey and his envelope system? I am interested in trying out an envelope system like Dave Ramsey suggests, however I was disappointed to find out that his kit costs $20. Are there any other kits out there that are similar, but not as expensive? I'm trying to get debt free and penny pinch like he suggests, so I'm looking for a cheaper way to implement this way of orgnaizing cash. Any ideas?

Does the Dave Ramsey program give you a "spending allowance?"? For anyone who has done this program - do his baby steps allow for a small spending allowance? Like for vacations, travel, eating out once in a while? Or is it only a "save save save" type of program? I ask because I know for us (and probably many others) it's completely unrealistic for us to never eat out or go to a movie, etc. I don't want to start a program that we are destined to fail. Thanks!

what would dave ramsey finanical guru recommend? Student loans vs. Mortgage? have about 36K in student loans and 123K in mortgage..... student loan is fixed at 1.625% and the house is fixed (30yr/2005) at 5.875. Soon as I have a car payed off it these will be our only debts..... would dave still recommend to focus on the student loans despite the LOW interest rate--- or would you think he would say start working on the mortgage instead?
